New guidelines from the Bishops on how to proceed through the next month or so arrived last week. Most of the old restrictions are to remain in place: mask wearing, social distancing, sanitizing hands, and an upper limit to the number of people in church. People can gather in groups of 6 outside church, but social distancing must be maintained. Changes in the mass, lay people doing the readings, and offertory processions will soon start again. There was the possibility of discontinuing the booking system and the use of stewards, but after much discussion in the parish I have decided to leave these in place for the time being.
Let`s pray that much more will be able to change on 21 June, but we will only know if this is going to be the case much nearer the time. Today is the feast of Pentecost; let`s ask the Holy Spirit to guide us into a safer future.
