Just a line to let you know,
I’m turning very deaf and slow,
But growing old disgracefully,
Seems just the very job to me!
Do as I like; don’t give a damn,
I take my pills; I take my dram,
I’m warm and cosy and well fed,
I’ve got my books; I’ve got my bed,
I think with pleasure of my friends,
And then I hope the future sends
Them as good a Life’s sent me –
