In quiet moments, when reflecting on suffering and pain, I think it a bit ‘over the top’ to identify my minor aches and pains with the passion of Christ. Then I remind myself that nothing is too small or insignificant in the eyes of God. Mine may be a very light cross to carry, but it is still the cross, and happily I know that Christ comes to help me carry it as Simon of Cyrene helped him.
