It is with sadness that we have been informed of the death on Saturday 25th January, of Mgr Dunne, who so kindly cared for us in the parish from 1997 to 2003.

The Reception of Mgr Dunne’s body and Mass will take place on Tuesday, 11th February at 5pm in the Chapel at  The Little Sisters, Mount St Joseph’s Home, Shire Oak Road, Leeds LS6 2DE. The Funeral Mass for Mgr Dunne will take place on Wednesday, 12th February at 11am in the Chapel at the Little Sisters, followed by interment at 1.30pm at Bowling Cemetery, Bradford BD5 8LQ.

He was, is and will in the future be especially remembered, for ”A Constant People” his bicentennial history of St Joseph’s Parish, Bishop Thornton, published by Tony Flanagan, which John Thristan had had reprinted only last year to mark a further 10 years since it was first published. He had since his retirement been living in a house in the grounds of Hinsley Hall, Headingley. In 2015 he produced a history of the Little Sisters of the Poor in Leeds, to mark 150 years since their arrival in the city. It was fitting that the Sisters cared for Mgr Dunne at Mount St Joseph’s Home during the final weeks of his life. May he rest in peace.
